Misti Duvall

New York, NY

  • University of Tennessee
  • Columbia Law School

Misti scored a 175 on the LSAT and is a graduate of Columbia Law School. Her classroom experience ranges from teaching toddlers to instructing activists on the Thai-Burma border.

Misti’s first foray into teaching involved staring down a classroom full of two-year-olds and wondering how fast she could make a break for it. She ultimately stayed – and loved it – and through undergrad worked as a preschool teacher, counselor for an elementary school after-school program, and a tutor.

Bitten by the save the world bug, she headed to law school in NYC and became an environmental lawyer at non-profit and advocacy groups in Thailand, DC, and New York. Her best memories again involved working with students: teaching international law and advocacy to Burmese activists, supervising and instructing legal interns and clinic students.

After ten years as a lawyer, Misti decided it was time to try something new (and old) and left the practice of law to focus on writing and teaching. When she’s not doing either, she spends her time on a quest to read and watch everything sci-fi/fantasy or otherwise otherworldly that has ever been produced. She has a long way to go.
